RUGS & CARPETS
1 CUT
The pile of the rug is cut to a uniform height in a single level. This can either feature a design or be solid-colored, or made with different types of materials. The defining characteristic is the even height of the fibers throughout the rug.

2 CUT & CARVING
The pile height remains the same, but the design, already defined by the difference in material, is further emphasized by a slight carving. This technique enhances the texture and depth of the pattern, giving it a more defined and three-dimensional appearance.

3 CUT (PILE) AT MULTIPLE LEVELS
Cutting the pile at two or more height levels creates texture and dynamism in the design. The pile of the rug can be cut at two or more height levels without necessarily requiring carving. This technique allows for greater dynamism and richness of texture, even when using few colors or working in monochrome.

4 CUT (PILE) AT MULTIPLE LEVELS & CARVING
This finishing technique is used to highlight or redefine certain areas of the design. In this case, the pile of the rug has two or more different heights, and then some parts, or the entire design, are redefined with carving. Therefore, in addition to the height variations, the design itself will have carved contours, adding depth and texture to the pattern.

5 LOOP
The distribution of the pile (or fibers) in loops that visually resemble knots. A rug can be made using various techniques combined together, one of which is LOOP. Typically, the loop serves as a background, allowing for greater definition of certain areas of the rug or its design, if present. The loop can be made from the same material as the cut pile or from a different material, for example, wool loops with a viscose design. It can also involve the combination of multiple materials. A rug can also be entirely made with the LOOP technique.

6 CUT & LOOP
This technique is used to achieve greater definition of areas, contrast between shapes, and different textures both visually and tactilely. CUT & LOOP rugs are characterized by the texture difference created by the two types of weaving. This contrast will be evident even if the rug is made with the same color or material. Both visually and to the touch, there will be a soft part and a knotty part. This technique inherently creates two levels.

8 CARVING
Finishing of rugs done by hand. Carving is achieved with a razor or scissors, which can be manual or electric. This technique highlights the designs by cutting or raising the pile, depending on the effect desired.
