Every weaving machine has these essential parts:
- The warp — these are the threads that run lengthwise and form the fabric’s foundation
- The weft — these threads weave across the warp to create the actual fabric
- The comb — this packs down the weft threads to make sure the fabric has an even density
- The healds — these move the warp threads up and down to create space for the weft
- The shuttle or rapier — this carries the weft thread through the warp threads
